Can I use a 200mm telephoto lens for macro?
I have an evolt 500. I cant afford the sigma 105mm macro yet. I have an adapter ring and I know someone who will sell me an OM 200mm f4.0 very cheap. Will it be sufficiant for any type of macro work? What if I use a 25mm extension tube. Any thoughts.
You cannot get true macro without using the revesal rings to mount a lens backwards, screw on macro filter lenses, extension tubes, a bellows or a macro lens. With every option except the macro lens there are trade offs , but they still all work.

Try this! Take your 200mm and a 50mm. Use black electrical tape and mount the 200mm to camera normally.Then take the 50mm and turn it lens to lens with the 200mm and use electrical tape to hold them in place. You will achive a micro photo.

Um, forget the electrical tape. I don't tape or stick anything to my lenses, cameras or flashes as a rule.
You can reverse a lens and get a macro effect. In fact, you will get greater magnification than a macro lens is capable of.

Sure, extension tubes are good. Even extension tubes with a 50mm will allow you to do macro.

Yes, you can use longer lenses for macro work. Look for a used bellows that will work on your camera on the net to make it easy. The exposure will be the problem here.
