That was a limitation of old photography, and this photogunning method is actually useful. Just because you didn’t have it back in the days doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s actually good. Oh and? for the record, you can learn how the camera functions and adjust everything fine with digital cameras, despite losing a few things.
